This post is brought to you by the ZTE Blade V7 Lite.

Metal smartphones used to be reserved for those who were willing to splurge on a handset and for good reason. A metallic build feels premium and nice in the hand because nothing really excites the way cold metal on skin does.

However, not everyone can afford to drop a large amount of dough on a smartphone. As a result, those on a tight budget were relegated to the cheap plasticky bodies of budget smartphones. Well, not anymore. Definitely not with ZTE’s brand new all-metal Blade V7 Lite.

Great build

The Blade V7 Lite is definitely an interesting smartphone because it’s one of the most affordable metal-bodied smartphones you can buy in Malaysia and the best part is that the metal actually feels premium. ZTE definitely didn’t skimp on its brand new smartphone’s build.

Good performance

But, the ZTE Blade V7 Lite isn’t all build and no substance. It’s actually got a respectable amount of horsepower packed inside. The 5-inch HD 720p device packs a MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.0GHz mated to 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

Latest version of Android

Performance is rather smooth and much of that is down to the fact that the Blade V7 runs a very stock-like Android 6.0 Marshmallow experience, which until this day, isn’t on that many devices yet. It’s pretty clean and doesn’t come with too much bloatware.

Fingerprint sensor

For added security, the ZTE Blade V7 Lite comes with a snappy rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. This fingerprint sensor isn’t just for unlocking your smartphone, it can also launch apps with a single touch. ZTE will allow you to assign five different applications to each of your five fingers which makes for quick and easy application launches.

Air Gestures

But that’s not all. Keeping to its hassle-free way of launching apps, the Blade V7 Lite comes equipped with what ZTE calls Air Gestures. By simply holding down the volume button and flicking your smartphone in a particular alphabet, you can instantaneously launch an app or task even when the screen is off. There are two default Air Gestures (play/pause music) and two custom ones that you can set to launch specific apps.

Front-facing LED flash

Moving on to the camera department, the ZTE Blade V7 Lite packs a 13-megapixel rear snapper and an 8MP front shooter. What makes the selfie shooter special is that it comes with its own dedicated LED flash for those crucial low light shots. Not many smartphones (even more expensive devices) have this feature so it’s pretty cool to find this on a budget entry.

Dual-SIM 4G LTE

Got more than one SIM card? Don’t worry because the Blade V7 Lite also comes with Dual SIM 4G LTE connectivity.

As a whole, the Blade V7 Lite is a pretty solid all-rounder. It’s got a good build, nice clean Android and biometric security. For only RM669, it’s also pretty good value as it brings a premium metal build to an even more affordable price point.

If you factor in the current promotional price of RM499 that ZTE is putting the Blade V7 Lite up for, it becomes even better value. Do keep in mind that this promo price is only available for a limited time so you’d better hurry if you want to capitalize on it.

For more information on where you can buy the Blade V7 Lite, head on over here for a list of authorised ZTE retailers. Alternatively, you can buy online from Lazada.
