The rumour states that Samsung is indeed working on a custom controller for the Gear VR, with the controller to fit snugly on the Gear VR when not currently being used, aka where the faceplate usually resides.
As of the moment, those who would want to play games on their Gear VR would need Samsung’s GamePad, which is more of a universal mobile controller which came before the VR did.
The as-of-yet named VR controller will have four buttons on its face, with two shoulder buttons as well as an analog stick. It will connect to your phone using Bluetooth, and will probably charge via microUSB. It’s apparently also kinda heavy, weighing in at 300g, where an Xbox controller only measures in at about 220g.
Unfortunately, we likely won’t find out a price or launch date till IFA so fingers crossed we hear more soon.
