Mobile World Congress 2015 which is happening in March is an event not to be missed if you’re looking forward to the latest flagship smart phones. With the likes of Samsung and HTC expected to showcase its latest flagship smart phones for 2015, Sony Mobile appears not to be announcing its upcoming Xperia Z4 just yet.

According to XperiaBlog, the Xperia Z4 is targeted to be announced sometime in Summer which is around June/July. Furthermore, its purported communication leak at Sony indicates a possible May release instead.

This is probably good news for current Xperia owners as the typical 6 months cycle is simply too quick, while its competitors such as Samsung, Huawei and even Xiaomi are doing 2 flagships per year by alternating a standard 5″ smart phone and a phablet model (e.g. Galaxy S5 & Galaxy Note 4). The Xperia Z2 was announced at MWC 2014 in February while its current Xperia Z3 was announced at IFA 2014 in September.

So is there anything to expect from Sony this coming March? It is possible that Sony will be introducing a new full sized tablet to replace its current Xperia Z2 Tablet. Earlier speculation suggests that this could be their epic 12.9″ tablet with a 4K display.

For those wanting a large screen and high-spec credentials, we are hoping that Sony would introduce a sequel for its Xperia Z Ultra. A purported replacement was earlier spotted with a Quad HD display and a possible Snapdragon 810 processor that’s mated to 4GB of RAM. We’ll find out more at MWC 2015 which is slightly more than a month away.
