After introducing its Redmi Note 4G into the Malaysian market, Xiaomi could be bringing its affordable Mi Pad locally very soon. The 7.9″ Android tablet was spotted in our local Malaysian SIRIM database with the model number A0101.

In China, the Mi Pad is going at 1,299 CNY (about RM748) for the 16GB model and 1,699 CNY (about RM979) for its bigger 64GB version. If it goes on sale here, you can expect them to price it around the similar range.

To recap on the specs, the Mi Pad is a compact tablet with a 7.9″ 2048×1536 pixels display, which is the same used on the iPad mini 2 and Nokia N1. Powering the device is a powerful 2.2GHz Tegra K1 processor that comes with a 192 Cores Kepler GPU, along with 2GB of RAM.

The hardware list continues with a 8MP Sony main camera that comes without flash and over the front, it gets a 5MP camera. With a 6,700mAh capacity on-board, the Mi Pad is rated to last 86 hours of music or 11 hours of video playback. Connectivity wise, it only supports WiFi with 802.11ac and there’s also a microSD slot to extend its storage.

For those who can’t wait, the Mi Pad is currently available through grey importers such as DirectD from RM769. Obviously for official support and warranty, it is best to get the units directly from Xiaomi and its authorised channels.

If you haven’t seen it yet, do check out our earlier hands-on with the Mi Pad over here. Thanks @Syazx83 and @KevinNgTK for the heads up!.
