The Galaxy Alpha will be officially launched in Malaysia on September 19 and already stores are looking to secure your money. One of them is electronics and electrical chain store, Senheng who are quick to list the Galaxy Alpha on their website including the price. The 4.7-inch Galaxy Alpha, according to Senheng, will sell for RM1,899.

The Galaxy Alpha was apparently created to compete with the similarly-sized iPhone 6 and it looks like the Samsung device is the better deal being thinner, lighter, narrower with better specs (You can check out the comparison of the specs and dimensions of the new iPhone 6 versus the Galaxy Alpha in our comparison here). With a thickness of just 6.7mm, the Galaxy Alpha is probably Samsung’s thinnest smartphone to date. Finished with a polished metal frame, the Alpha packs a 720p Super AMOLED display pushing 312ppi.

Powering the device is Samsung’s in-house Exynos Octa-Core processor (4 cores at 1.8GHz / 4 cores at 1.3GHz) with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage that’s not expandable. The rest of the specs include a 12MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, a heart rate sensor, a finger print scanner, 4G LTE connectivity and 1,860mAh battery.

On paper, the 1,860mAh may look small compared to other comparable smartphones but it seems Samsung has tweaked the Alpha to make it more efficient. One battery test reported the Galaxy Alpha was able to deliver 8 hours of continous web browsing and video playback, and over 13 hours of talk time.

So what do you think? Would you get the Galaxy Alpha over the iPhone 6? Or will you get something else? Stay tuned for our hands-on look at the Galaxy Alpha soon.
