UPDATE: Moto E is going on sale in Malaysia on 13th August.

The even cheaper Moto E is heading our way in Malaysia as it gets certified by our very own SIRIM. Like the Moto G, we will be receiving the Dual-SIM version which carries the model number XT1022. The Moto E will be affordably priced below RM500 as it is currently sold for 89 Pounds (RM487) in the UK and 6,999 Rupees (RM380) in India.

To recap on the specs, the Moto E gets a 4.3″ qHD (960×540) display and runs on a lower end 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor that’s mated to 1GB of RAM. It packs only 4GB of on-board storage but fortunately it has a microSD slot which accept cards up to 32GB capacity. There’s a 5MP main camera without flash and it lacks a front facing camera. Juicing up the device is a 1,980mAh non-removable battery which should provide all day usage with its frugal processor. In terms of connectivity, it gets 802.11n WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and 3G HSPA+ connectivity with speeds up to 21Mbps.

The Moto E will face stiff competition from other affordable smart phones that are priced below RM600. However the key advantage is that it will be among the first to receive the latest Android 4.4.3 KitKat, a move that’s very rare for entry level smart phones.

You can check out the certification listing as well as Moto E’s promo videos after the break.

Thanks NightFelix for the tip!
