DiGi’s Crowdsourced Merdeka Campaign is Really Cool

It’s Merdeka month and you know what that means. Brands big and small show their patriotic spirit through advertisements. Some do it better than others while a select few, like Petronas, got this festive ad thing down to an artform.

And this year, DiGi’s #confirmmalaysian campaign stood out from the crowd so much that we felt that it deserves a mention here. In a nutshell the #confirmmalaysian campaign attempts to capture the Malaysian spirit through the power of social media and everyone who’s a Malaysian can participate. All you need to do is take a picture and post it on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #confirmmalaysian. The beauty of this campaign is that you can be anywhere in the world and you can still take part.

We like the campaign because it’s simple and fun and it uses social media so effectively to drive participation and conversation. At the same time the campaign clearly represents everything wonderful about being Malaysian. Nice work DiGi!

What do you think of the campaign?
