Samsung Galaxy Beam gets priced in the UK

The Samsung Galaxy Beam which comes with a built-in pico projector has finally gone on sale in the UK with a price tag of £389. Introduced during MWC 2012, the Galaxy Beam runs on a dual-core NovaThor U8500 1GHz processor, 768MB of RAM and comes with 8GB of on board storage that’s expandable via microSD. Over at the front there’s a 4.0″ display that does 800×480. For imaging, it comes with a 5MP camera at the rear and a 1.3MP camera at the front. Out of the box, it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it is juiced up with a generous 2,000mAh battery.

The biggest highlight of course is the built-in projector that’s capable of projecting up to 50″. The brightness is rated at 15 lumens which is similar to the 3M Mpro150 that we’ve tried some time back. Even with the pico projector components, the Galaxy Beam is only 12.5mm thick and it weighs 145 grams.

In terms of Malaysian pricing, the Galaxy Beam goes for RM1,911 if converted directly but realistically we expect this to be priced below the RM1,800 mark. That’s quite competitive with other pico-projectors out there in the market. Availability date for Malaysian market is yet to be known but we do know that Maxis will be one of the first to offer it on contract.

Head after the break for the promo video and hands-on.
