At the BlackBerry PlayBook media launch tonight, the tablet wasn’t the only one BlackBerry getting all the attention. The yet to be launched BlackBerry Bold 9900 was also present to spend some quality time with the media in attendance, and word has it, RIM‘s latest Bold will be launched in Malaysia soon.
The Bold 9900 is RIM’s most advanced BlackBerry yet. It features a 1.2Ghz single-core Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The 2.8-inch display is now a touchscreen with 640×480 pixel resolution, the highest of all the Bolds preceding the 9900. The camera resolution is up from 3.2MP on the Bold 9700 to 5MP on the 9900 and RIM has also included NFC in the new Bold.
Most important of all, the new Bold will run BlackBerry’s latest version of the BlackBerry OS, the BlackBerry 7, which it claims offers up a much smoother UI than previous versions. RIM even has a name for the smooth UI, they call it “Liquid Graphics”.
Yes, soon is a general term, it could be tomorrow, it could be next week, it could be next month, we don’t know for sure but what is certain is that the Bold 9900 is coming to Malaysia. Now it’s only a matter of time and a matter of finding out which telco will be the first to offer it. Will it be BlackBerry fanboys Celcom or will Maxis come up top with this device?
Whatever it is, it won’t be long until all is revealed. Stay tuned.
