Andy Rubin shows off upcoming Android tablet with Honeycomb

Just barely few hours after Nexus S was relevealed with Gingerbread, Google has started teasing us with the next version of Android OS. Andy Rubin the big guy behind Android development had showed off the upcoming Android Tablet which runs on Honeycomb. This is happening right now at D:Dive Into Mobile event. It was also revealed that Honeycomb will be released next year which can be between 1 to 12 months time from now.

The tablet at hand is said to be a Motorola tablet prototype running Nvidia’s dual core 3D processor. From the screenshot, the interface is all brand new and departs from the usual handheld device interface to a rather more desktop looking one. This would probably give a better tablet experience the way Google had envisioned. Earlier on, Google had mentioned that existing Android 2.2 Froyo isn’t ready for tablet use despite an array of tablet offerings such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Dell Streak hitting the market.

Just recently, Samsung India had announced that the Galaxy Tab is upgradeable to the current Gingerbread and upcoming Honeycomb OS. Let’s hope to see that soon and maybe that could address the issues we faced during our initial first impression.
