Meizu is rather a quirky Chinese smartphone brand that’s known for producing decent smartphones at a competitive price point. Now they are reaffirming their presence in Malaysia by introducing two new smartphones – the Meizu Pro 6 Plus and the M5 Note. Meizu smartphones in Malaysia are now distributed by Dynamics Distribution Sdn Bhd.
Meizu Pro 6 Plus
The Meizu Pro 6 Plus is their current flagship offering. It has a 5.7″ Quad HD Super AMOLED display and under the hood, it runs on the same Exynos 8890 processor that’s powering the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The Pro 6 Plus also gets 4GB of LPDDR4RAM with 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage.
For imaging, it gets a 12MP f/2.0 (Sony IMX386) main camera that’s assisted by a 4-axis OIS system and a 10-LED circular flash. For the front, the selfie shooter is a 5MP f/2.0 camera that’s enhanced with its own ArcSoft beautification feature. The Pro 6 Plus gets a mTouch fingerprint sensor up front and the display also supports “3D Press” which adds extra functionality when more pressure is applied on the screen.
Powering the device is a 3,400mAh battery which charges quickly via USB-Type C that supports USB 3.1 standards. It also gets fast charging and a 30-minute charge is sufficient enough to give it 60% of juice. Out of the box, it runs on a heavily skinned Flyme OS 5.2 software that’s based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Meizu Pro 6 Plus is available in Gold, Grey and Silver with a retail price tag of RM1,999.
Meizu M5 Note
For something more affordable, there’s the Meizu M5 Note that’s priced at RM849. It gets a 5.5″ Full HD display and it runs on a Helio P10 processor that’s mated to 3GB of RAM. Onboard it gets 32GB of storage which can be expanded further via microSD. Like the Pro 5 Plus, it has an all-metal body for a more upmarket feel.
The affordable phablet gets a 13MP f/2.2 main camera with PDAF while the front settles for a 5MP f/2.0 selfie shooter. It has a larger 4,000mAh battery that also supports mCharge fast charging. With its bundled 18W power brick, a full charge claims to take just 90 minutes. Like the Meizu Pro 6 Plus, you can get the M5 Note in either Gold, Grey, dan Silver.
Apart from these 2 models, Meizu Malaysia has also mentioned 3 other smartphones for the Malaysian market. This includes the Meizu M5 (RM599), Meizu M3 Note (RM749) and Meizu MX6 (RM1,299) which are also distributed locally by Dynamics Distribution Sdn Bhd.
