After reducing the entry-level iPhone SE‘s price tag, authorised retailer Switch is now offering the new iPhone 6 with 32GB of storage in Malaysia. The iPhone 6 is a 3 year old flagship that’s making a comeback as Apple’s new entry-level iPhone option.
Announced in 2014, the iPhone 6 was offered only with 16GB, 64GB and 128GB options. The model was discontinued when the iPhone 7 was announced, which made the iPhone SE as their defacto entry-level model. To have 32GB storage is brand new for 2017 and it runs on iOS 10 out of the box.
To recap, the iPhone 6 is a 4.7″ device with a Retina HD display that pushes 1334×750 pixels resolution. It runs on a 1.4GHz A8 chip with 1GB of RAM. It also comes with an 8MP f/2.2 main camera that does full HD video recording and a front-facing 1.2MP shooter. You also get a 1,810mAh battery and a headphone jack.
Available only in gold colour, the limited edition iPhone 6 32GB is priced at RM1,999 in Malaysia. As a comparison, the 4.0″ iPhone SE with updated hardware is going for RM1,699 for the 16GB version while the 64GB version is still priced at RM2,199. The iPhone SE has a faster A9 chip and a higher resolution 12MP f/2.2 camera that can shoot 4K videos.
The iPhone 6 is a viable alternative for those looking for a cheap iPhone but wants a larger screen. If you’re in the market for an entry-level device, would you go for a smaller phone with better hardware or would you compromise performance for a bigger 4.7″ screen?
