Local G-shock fanatics are probably already dropping the Nabu into their online carts. Weeks after being announced at CES 2016, Razer’s first “smartwatch” is now available on our shores. The manufacturer has not had a lot of luck in the wearable segment, with their first, the Razer Nabu X falling short of expectations.

But will, this time, be any different?

The device would suit any rough and tough individual that needs something that can handle a few knocks here and there. Using a digital Chronograph watch face, the Nabu wearable has a 5 ATM water resistance rating and will be durable enough to withstand drops from 5 metres.

It uses a regular backlit display that you can find on other digital watches and has the following (typical) features an alarm, stopwatch, world time. Yet, they stay updated by syncing through Bluetooth when paired with your phone – ensuring your watch is always accurate.

Its second OLED screen is where things get “smarter” and when you raise your wrist into view, it’ll turn on automatically. On that screen, you’ll be able to see phone notifications on a single-line. As you would on those left to right scrolling text.

Since it’s a fitness watch, you’ll also have activity data on the same secondary display. Although Razer wants to go the fitness route, they left out an optical heart-rate monitor which would’ve added a nice touch.

When considering power sources, the two displays rely on different battery sources:

The main backlit display draws life from the average coin cell battery that’ll have Razer quoting a 12-month battery life.

The secondary display needs a charge every seven days and will be plugged via a proprietary USB cable.

The smartwatch will be compatible with Android and iOS devices. Two version will be available on Razer’s online store. The Razer Nabu Watch will go for RM 749 while the fancier looking Razer Nabu Watch Forged Edition will cost RM 999.
