Last week, word has it that ASUS is considering to acquire its fellow Taiwanese smart phone maker HTC. Now HTC has refuted such claims with a statement clarifying there was never such contact with ASUS and they would not consider an acquisition at this point of time. For now, HTC says that they will continue to design world class products in line with its brand promise.
Despite facing a sharp drop in its stock price, HTC has managed to enjoy some short gains yesterday due to it recent speculation. HTC has been struggling financially as of late and its anticipated HTC One M9 flagship didn’t perform as well as expected. Its Chairperson and CEO, Cher Wang has shared that a new hero product will be announced in October and hopefully this will turn their fortunes around.
Looks like it is business as usual for the two Taiwanese brands. Or is it?
