The Nexus 9 marks HTC’s return to the tablet business as well as the Nexus program. Now it appears that the Nexus 9 tablet will be heading to Malaysia officially as it was spotted in our local SIRIM certification. The Nexus 9 model that’s heading here is the 4G LTE version that supports our local 1800MHz/2600MHz LTE bands.
To recap on the specs, the Nexus 9 comes with a 2048×1536 resolution display, which is similar to the iPad mini, Nokia N1 and Xiaomi Mi Pad but it is slightly bigger at 8.9″. In typical HTC fashion, it gets BoomSound stereo speakers at the front and the display is toughen with Gorilla Glass 3.
Powering the Nexus 9 is a 64-bit 2.3GHz Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset that’s mated to 2GB of RAM. Storage wise, it appears that the LTE version will be available only in 32GB capacity. For taking pictures, it has an 8MP f/2.4 camera with assisted LED flash while the front has a 1.6MP f/2.4 unit.
The Nexus 9 boast better build quality with the use of brushed metal edges and it comes with thinner bezels. You’ll also get a standard NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac and GPS. Also being a new Nexus device, it runs with the very latest Android 5.0 Lollipop. On-board it gets a 6,700mAh capacity battery and overall it 7.95mm thick and weighs 436grams for the LTE variant.
Pricing wise, the Nexus 9 is listed in the US at US$599 which is about RM2,000. Hopefully it gets cheaper when it is available here. If you can’t wait, the imported Nexus 9 is currently being offered at RM1379 for 16GB WiFi and RM1599 for the 32GB WiFi version. You can read up more about the Nexus 9 in our announcement post.
