Imagine paying for your groceries without taking out your wallet, credit card or even your smartphone. That’s now possible with the introduction of FacePay, a new facial recognition-based payment introduced by Aeon Credit.
According to Aeon, FacePay allows registered Aeon Wallet users to pay for their purchases simply by scanning their face at selected self-checkout counters. Instead of scanning a QR code or tapping a card, the system recognises the customer and processes the payment through their linked Aeon payment account.
Aeon Credit is describing this as Malaysia’s first FacePay payment experience, and it is currently available exclusively at Aeon Supermarket KL Midtown.
How does Aeon FacePay work?

To use FacePay, customers must first register through the Aeon Wallet app.
This is a one-time setup process which requires users to register their facial data and create a six-digit Face Code for payment verification.
To get started, launch the Aeon Wallet app, tap on Profile and then tap on Set up FacePay.

Then you’ll need to enrol your face and enter a 6-digit Face Code which will be required to authorise payments above a certain limit.
Once registered, customers can visit a FacePay-enabled self-checkout counter at Aeon Supermarket KL Midtown. During checkout, they can select FacePay as their preferred payment method and scan their face to identify themselves.
The system will recognise their Aeon membership and allow them to pay using their Aeon Wallet or an eligible Aeon Card. Customers with multiple eligible payment products can select which account or card they want to use before confirming the transaction.
Aeon Credit says FacePay uses facial recognition with liveness detection to help prevent unauthorised payments using photographs. For transactions exceeding an applicable limit, customers will also be prompted to enter their six-digit Face Code at the self-checkout counter.
After a successful payment, users will receive a push notification through the Aeon Wallet app, where they can also view their transaction history.
If FacePay is unavailable or customers prefer not to use facial recognition, they can continue making payments using their Aeon Wallet or physical Aeon Card as usual.
Earn up to 6x Aeon Points with FacePay
To encourage adoption, Aeon Credit is running an introductory rewards campaign from 5 November until 31 December 2026.
During this period, eligible customers will earn an additional 1 Aeon Point for every RM1 spent using FacePay with their Aeon Wallet or eligible Aeon Card. Combined with existing card rewards, customers can earn up to 6x Aeon Points on their grocery purchases.
However, the campaign has a total allocation of just 300,000 Aeon Points, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Bonus points will be credited within 30 working days from the qualifying transaction date.
The promotion is open to eligible Aeon Wallet Basic and Premium account holders, as well as selected Aeon Member Plus credit and prepaid cardholders.

Aeon Credit opens its first AI Flagship Branch at KL Midtown

Besides FacePay, Aeon Credit has also opened its first AI Flagship Branch at Aeon Mall KL Midtown.
Instead of a conventional service counter experience, the new branch features an AI Greeter that welcomes customers and directs them to the appropriate services.
There are also private Smart Pods where customers can explore financial products through a digital panel or connect with a live online agent.
The branch also features a dedicated Members’ Lounge offering refreshments and a space for members to relax and participate in community activities.
According to Aeon Credit, KL Midtown will serve as a pilot location for new technologies, with plans to bring similar experiences to more customers in the future.
