Proton has officially revealed the name of its upcoming updated sedan as the 2027 Proton S70 RS. According to the national automaker, the RS moniker stands for Refined Sportiness, signalling sharper styling, dynamic chassis refinements, and a significantly reworked cockpit—all guided by the theme of “Performance with Style.”
The announcement follows strong momentum for the model line, which racked up 5,367 units sold in October 2026 alone, inclusive of the newly in. The S70 is currently the second most popular Proton model, according to recent year-to-date sales figures.
Proton S70 RS: More Assertive Stance and Driver-Focused Cabin

Up front, the Proton S70 RS sports a redesigned front grille and bumper accented by red detailing and contrasting trim.
Down the sides, extended skirts and redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels frame bright red brake callipers, while the tail is capped off by a re-sculpted rear bumper, an integrated aero diffuser, and quad exhaust-tip finishers that lend the sedan a planted, aggressive demeanour.

Inside, the cabin follows the latest design language introduced with the 2026 X50. Featuring a dual-tone theme with red accents extending throughout the dashboard and seats, the layout has been modernised with a revised floating centre console and integrated ambient lighting, alongside a new digital instrument cluster and a significantly larger infotainment display.
Proton has also introduced a steering column-mounted automatic shifter alongside a dedicated Commander Dial, clearing clutter from the lower tunnel area and placing primary driving functions within closer, more natural reach.
Proton S70 RS: Turbocharged i-GT Remains

In terms of powertrain, the S70 RS comes with the familiar i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine carried over from the S70 MC1. Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), the combination completes the century sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.
As usual, Proton is taking a staggered approach to launch the S70 RS, holding back several key details, including official pricing. Expect to hear more when the sedan makes its official debut at Proton’s industrial-themed fashion runway show, livestreamed on 10 November 2026 at 8:00 PM.
