PayNet has launched outbound DuitNow QR cross border payment connectivity through the Alipay+ platform.
The partnership feature allows Malaysian travellers to use their existing local mobile banking applications to pay at participating retail merchants across five overseas destinations.
Supported destinations and participating banks

The cross border QR payment service is currently live across five initial markets, namely mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, South Korea, the Philippines, and Laos, with additional destinations scheduled to follow progressively.
At launch, three local commercial banks support the outbound service: Maybank, CIMB, and Hong Leong Bank. Bank Islam is set to add support soon.
PayNet confirmed that the capability remains open for adoption by other member banks and digital wallet operators.
How to make an overseas DuitNow QR payment

Travellers visiting supported destinations do not need to download an extra application or register for an Alipay account. All transactions are handled directly within the user’s existing Malaysian mobile banking application.
At retail outlets displaying the Alipay+ logo, customers open their banking app, select the DuitNow QR scanner, and scan the merchant QR code.
The user can then verify the transaction details and confirm payment on screen.
Unlike TNG eWallet, this feature is strictly one way, meaning users must scan the merchant QR code as the system does not currently support merchants scanning the user device.
