It’s over a year since the CMF Phone 2 Pro was launched and some are wondering when Nothing is releasing a new budget smartphone.
Following the launch of the Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro which are priced from RM1,999, it makes sense for Nothing to release its new budget CMF phone for 2026.
However, Nothing’s Co-Founder Akis Evangelidis has shared recently that they are not launching any new CMF phone this year. This is due to the current memory prices which would have made it difficult to release a new phone that makes sense under affordable CMF sub-brand.
Shortly after that, Nothing has dropped an interesting teaser which hints that a new type of smartphone is coming soon under the Nothing brand.

In the short video teaser, it looks like another new Nothing smartphone is on its way and it would likely feature its industrial semi-transparent design like its current lineup.
What makes it different this time is the hints of “(b)” that’s placed in the caption.

In case it isn’t obvious enough, the teaser video ends with the odd placement of a 4B pencil, which pretty much confirms that the new smartphone would be the Nothing Phone (4b).
Since the Nothing Phone (4a) is already hovering the premium mid-range segment of RM2,000, it looks like the Phone (4b) could be targetting the lower price segment.

So far there are no confirmed details of the hardware but we reckon that Nothing will drop more clues closer to the official launch date.
To keep prices low and affordable, we are guessing that the Nothing Phone (4b) may come with 8GB of RAM instead of the current 12GB on the Nothing Phone (4a). On top of that, it could get a simple single or dual-camera setup without the periscope telephoto camera system.
