The Oppo Find X9 series is getting a new model which aims to take zooming to the take level. Oppo has confirmed that the Find X9 Ultra will be unveiled next month, featuring a Hasselblad co-developed 10x “native” optical telephoto zoom camera.
As shown in the teaser, the new Oppo Find X9 Ultra will feature a capacitive Quick Button in bright orange, which seems to mimic the orange shutter button on the Hasselblad X2DII.

As shared by Oppo’s product manager Zhou Shijie, the Find X9 Ultra will feature a 5-reflection inverted periscope system which makes it possible to deliver high-quality 10x optical zoom in a slim smartphone. As a comparison, a traditional telephoto system would utilise more space to offer 10x optical zoom and this approach would require a longer optical path, which would make phones bulkier.

Oppo claims that the Find X9 Ultra achieves true 10x optical zoom with a five-reflection inverted periscope by tackling the usual problem of light loss and image degradation at the optical level. One of its key breakthrough is a nanoscale-cut prism design paired with an “air diaphragm”.
Meanwhile, the remaining areas are coated with a special ND film and the system allows only clean, pure light to pass through while reducing stray light and internal reflections. Oppo claims that this approach results in clearer images compared to conventional four-reflection periscope setups.
To maintain consistent optical quality in the telephoto module, Oppo uses Triple AOA calibration during manufacturing. This involves real-time dynamic adjustments of the lens and sensor alignment, followed by multiple calibration passes to ensure lab-grade optical axis accuracy in every produced unit.
Finally, the hardware is paired with a custom JNL 50MP Fusion Sensor paired with F3.5 aperture and Oppo’s Lumo superpixel engine. Besides enabling full-pixel Hasselblad ultra-high definition images, it also provides high dynamic range and high-resolution 20x “optical quality” zoom (460mm). For the native 10x optical telephoto zoom (230mm), the Oppo has also optimised the microlens and colour filter to greatly reduce colour shading while ensuring accurate and consistent colours.
So far there are no details on the specs, but it is expected to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.82″ LTPO AMOLED display and a huge 7,050mAh battery. In the camera department, the Find X9 Ultra is speculated to feature a 200MP main camera, 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
As a reference, the current Oppo Find X9 and X9 Pro powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 are priced at RM3,699 and RM5,099 respectively in Malaysia.
