What’s new with Sony WF-1000XM6?
Sony says the WF-1000XM6 delivers a 25% further reduction in noise compared to the WF-1000XM5. This is made possible by Sony’s next-generation HD Noise Canceling Processor QN3e, paired with the Integrated Processor V2 and Adaptive Noise Canceling Optimizer. The new model now features four microphones per earbud, up from three on the previous generation.
Sony says performance has been elevated particularly in the mid-to-high frequency range, common in everyday environments such as public transport and busy spaces. The system also analyses external noise and wearing conditions in real time, adapting noise cancellation performance accordingly.

Noise cancellation is also improved by reducing sound leakage caused by gaps between ear tips and the ear canal. The new earbuds come with Sony’s Noise Isolation Earbud Tips, which are available in four sizes. For better durability in demanding scenarios, the earbuds are also splash resistant with IPX4 rating.
According to Sony, its dual advanced processors work together to deliver exceptional clarity, detail, and precision on the XM6.
The QN3e processor enhances DAC amplifier performance, while the Integrated Processor V2 supports 32-bit processing, compared to 24-bit on the previous model.

The XM6 earbuds also utilises Sony’s newly developed driver unit with the diaphragm featuring a unique design and combination of different materials for the dome and edge. The soft edge is designed for deep and immersive bass, while the lightweight, rigid dome is designed for clear and extended high frequencies.
As expected from a Sony, the WF-1000XM6 also features Hi-Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio compatibility, a 10 Band EQ customisation via the Sound Connect app, headtracking and Background Music Effect.
Sony added that the 1000X series has always aimed for a shape that fits the human ear perfectly with an ergonomic design for a stable and comfortable fit. With the XM6, they are taking its fit further by designing the earbud to follow the natural curves of a person’s inner ear to reduce discomfort and making them even more comfortable to wear.
It is said that the XM6 earbud body is about 11% slimmer than the XM5, which minimises interference with the ear’s complex contours and to ensure that the earbuds remain comfortable for extended use.

The XM6’s newly adopted ventilated structure is also designed to increase airflow within the device to reduce internal noises such as footsteps and chewing sounds.
As expected from Sony’s 1000X series lineup, the XM6 comes packed with nifty convenient features which include scene-based listening with Auto Play, Adaptive Sound Control, Quick access, voice assistance and Google Gemini.
The WF-1000XM6 is Bluetooth 5.3 and LE Audio ready which enables ultra-low latency for gaming and the antennas are now 1.5 times larger with improved algorithm to ensure a more reliable wireless connectivity.
On a full charge, the WF-1000XM6 lasts up to 8 hours with ANC on for music playback or up to 12 hours without ANC. With the case included, it boasts up to 24 hours of playback.
A quick 5-minute charge in the case provides the earbuds up to 60 minutes of playback and a full charge takes 1.5 hours. The charging case itself supports USB-C charging as well as wireless charging, and a full charge takes approximately 2 hours.
