The telco segment has been relatively quiet in 2025. After a major round of plan revisions in 2024, which saw telcos offering larger data quotas and faster speeds to drive 5G adoption, most plans have remained largely unchanged in 2025.
Even so, there are still clear differences in how telcos compete, particularly in terms of value and network capabilities. In this 2025 roundup, we highlight the standout telco offerings across prepaid, postpaid and broadband. This also include notable examples that deliver strong value for money and newer technologies such as 5G Advanced.
As usual, we recognise telco plans in each category by awarding Gold, Silver and Bronze. The SoyaCincau.com editorial team consisting of Alex, Chapree, Putra, Sam, Aisyah, Zul and Duke, curated this list based on telco plans both new or existing between 1 November 2024 and 1 November 2025.
After much deliberation, here are the winners of the SoyaCincau Awards 2025: Best Telcos of the Year.
Prepaid Plan of the Year
Bronze – Yes Prepaid 20

Yes Prepaid 20 takes Bronze as one of the most affordable way to access 5G in Malaysia. Priced at RM20 per month, it offers 50GB of data for both 5G and 4G with uncapped speed. On top of that, the plan lets you roll over unused data to the next month, making it ideal for light and casual users.
At the moment, they are running a time limited promo where the plan can be yours for RM15 per month until 15th March 2026.
Notably, Yes is also the first and only telco in Malaysia enabling 5G Advanced on prepaid. In addition, users can sign up for the plan instantly via the MyYes app and activate the eSIM at no extra cost.
Silver – Hotlink Prepaid 55

Hotlink Prepaid 55 earns Silver this year with its “unlimited” data with uncapped speed (400GB FUP), making it one of the most generous prepaid plans available today. Beyond local usage, the plan offers free data roaming in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, which is great for those who travel often to neighbouring countries.
The plan is also bundled with free Sooka subscription with Live Sports, which is a value-added perk.
Gold – Tune Talk Epik+ 35

Tune Talk takes Gold with its Epik+ 35 plan. For RM35 per month, users get 150GB of data, unlimited voice calls and hotspot included. Most importantly, this affordable plan has no speed cap for both 4G and 5G usage.
Beyond data value, Tune Talk also stands out for bundling personal accident (PA) insurance with its Epik+ plans.
By including basic insurance coverage at no additional cost, Tune Talk lowers the entry barrier to protection for Malaysians who may otherwise remain underinsured. The PA insurance coverage was recently increased to RM100,000 for Epik+ 35 and RM150,000 for Epik+ 50.
Postpaid Plan of the Year
Bronze – Yes Infinite Basic

Yes Infinite Basic takes Bronze by offering unlimited 4G and 5G data with uncapped speeds at RM38 per month. The plan also includes unlimited calls, 20GB of hotspot data and 10GB of free roaming in Singapore. The plan also provides free incoming and outgoing calls to any Malaysian number while you’re roaming in Singapore.
Do note that this plan comes with a 12-month contract and it is perfect for those who travel to Singapore often. The Infinite Basic plan is also one of the cheapest plans in Malaysia that is 5G Advanced enabled nationwide.
Silver – Hotlink Postpaid 70

Hotlink continues its strong showing with Postpaid 70. For RM60 per month (with current rebate), users get 300GB of data (150GB + 150GB bonus 5G data) with no speed cap, plus the ability to use their data in Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia at no extra cost.
For frequent travellers within the region, this plan offers excellent flexibility and value.
Gold – U Mobile U Family 128

Retaining its crown from last year, U Family 128 remains our top postpaid pick. At RM128 per month, users get unlimited calls and 1,000GB of high-speed 5G/4G data shared across four lines. That’s effectively RM32 per line per month.
There’s no speed cap, and the plan offers 15GB of free data roaming and free incoming calls in 60 countries that’s shared among the 4 lines. If you need a postpaid plan for the family, U Family 128 remains unmatched in value.
Broadband Plan of the Year
Bronze – Time Fibre 200Mbps

Time’s 200Mbps fibre plan at RM99 per month takes Bronze. It continues to be one of the best-value fibre broadband offerings in Malaysia if you’re within Time fibre coverage areas.
The biggest standout is its symmetrical speeds where you get 200Mbps download and 200Mbps upload. If you need faster upload speeds on fibre for less, nothing beats Time.
Silver – Yes 5G Gateway Home WiFi

Yes 5G Gateway Home WiFi earns Silver by offering unlimited 5G with no speed cap, starting from RM68 per month on a 3-year contract. Shorter contract options are available, including RM99/month for 2 years, or RM75/month for existing Yes 5G postpaid customers. This is a great fibre broadband alternative if your area is covered by DNB’s 5G network.
Yes has also started bundling free one-year iQIYI subscription, and it remains Malaysia’s only 5G Advanced home broadband offering. If you’re not within a 5G area, take note that there’s a 500GB quota for 4G.
Gold – Unifi Home 1Gbps

Unifi Home 1Gbps takes Gold this year for the best broadband plan. Priced at RM249 per month, the fibre plan includes voice calls and is backed by a 12 Business hour service restoration SLA.

Most recently, Unifi has upgraded its hardware offering. Customers can choose between a free Wi-Fi 7 router or Fibre-to-the-Room installation on contract, which helps to future-proof your home’s connectivity.
Telco of the Year 2025
Bronze – Maxis

Maxis takes Bronze after a major product revamp in 2024, introducing higher data quotas and faster speeds across its prepaid lineup. While changes in 2025 have been modest, Maxis continues to prioritise simplicity, broad device bundling options, and consistent service quality.
Beyond telco services, Maxis has also expanded into subscription-based Home Solar solutions, lowering the barrier for households looking to adopt renewable energy and reduce their monthly bills.
Silver – Yes 5G

Yes 5G earns Silver for continuing to push boundaries. Beyond being Malaysia’s first commercial 5G telco, Yes is also the first to roll out 5G Advanced to the mass market.
Operating on 5G SA nationwide via DNB’s network, Yes’ 5G Advanced takes advantage of both 700MHz and 3.5GHz spectrum for wider and deeper coverage. Crucially, Yes isn’t limited 5G Advanced to premium plans as they are making it accessible across postpaid, prepaid and wireless broadband from as little as RM10 per month.
Yes also stands out with one of the most seamless eSIM activation experiences we’ve tested, allowing easy device switching via the MyYes app, without the extra RM10 fees imposed by its competitors.
Gold – Tune Talk

The Gold Award for SoyaCincau Telco of the Year 2025 goes to Tune Talk.
What began as a low-cost MVNO has evolved into a benchmark for value. The Epik+ prepaid plans introduced late last year deliver standout pricing, with Epik+ 35 offering 150GB for RM35 and there’s no artificial speed caps.
Beyond data, Tune Talk adds meaningful extras, notably its free PA insurance, with coverage reaching RM150,000 on the Epik+ 50 plan. In addition, they also introduced in-app video content and games to make entertainment accessible for the underserved.
Tune Talk also provides greater value for customers who stay loyal by offering free 1-month subscription if they sign up for a 12-month contract period.
In a market crowded with complex bundles and fine print, Tune Talk proves that straightforward, honest value still wins.
Closing Thoughts
Overall, 2025 has been a less eventful year compared to 2024, with most telcos focusing on refining existing plans rather than introducing all-new revamps. At the same time, there are meaningful developments happening beneath the surface. This includes the enablement of 5G Standalone (SA) and the commercial introduction of 5G Advanced by Yes. Meanwhile, U Mobile has started work on building Malaysia’s second 5G network.
As 5G adoption continues to rise, early signs of 5G network congestion have also emerged, highlighting the importance of spectrum availability and network capacity. We expect the next phase of improvements to take shape which include the privatisation of Digital Nasional Berhad, their allocation of the additional 100MHz spectrum on 3.5GHz, and U Mobile’s target of achieving 80% 5G population coverage by H2 2026 for its new network.
With these developments in progress, the coming years should offer greater clarity, stronger competition, and better value for consumers. As always, we will continue to track how these changes translate into real-world improvements for Malaysian users.
