The government will be using data from the Central Database Hub (PADU) for the upcoming RON95 subsidy rationalisation. This is according to the remarks made by the Finance Minister II, Amir Hamzah Azizan, at the Parliament.

“The mechanism for the RON95 subsidy rationalisation, which is currently being refined by the Ministry on Finance, will be using data from PADU as reference. ” – Amir Hamzah Azizan, Finance Minister II

Amir Hamzah further pointed out that the RON95 subsidy rationalisation will likely be the first “detailed use” of PADU. At the moment, access to the database, which is said to have 30.4 million individual profiles, is still limited to the specific needs of government agencies that are currently using the data to refine their policies.

However, the minister did not reveal when exactly further details regarding the subsidy implementation will be revealed to the public. Originally set to take place in mid-2025, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently promised that the RON95 subsidy rationalisation will take place before the end of September 2025 instead.

Once implemented, the RON95 price will be reduced to RM1.99 per litre as opposed to the current price of RM2.05 per litre. Those who are not eligible to purchase subsidised petrol will have to pay the market rate, which is between RM2.61 and RM2.69 per litre as of 4 August 2025.

The non-subsidised RON95 pricing listed above is according to the information listed on Double Petrol’s website. Operated by Double Endorse Sdn Bhd, Double Petrol stations sell non-subsidised RON95 and diesel in Padang Besar and Bukit Kayu Hitam.
