Honor has announced that it will be launching its latest premium mid-range smartphones — the Honor 400 and 400 Pro here in Malaysia on the 22nd of May 2025, making us one of the first markets to receive these devices.

During their unveiling last week, we got to play around with the phone, but we can’t exactly reveal the full specs just yet. But what we can talk about at this point is their designs, camera setups, as well as a new and interesting AI feature.

Honor 400 series looks suspiciously familiar, sports 200MP main camera

When the Honor 400 Lite made its launch in Malaysia late last month, we thought it looked suspiciously similar to the Huawei Pura 70. That similarity scale has been toned down a bit with the remaining two Honor 400 series members — the Honor 400 and 400 Pro — but we still can’t help but notice the resemblance.

Anyway, what’s even more important is that these devices, especially the Honor 400 Pro, do look pretty solid and feel decently premium too, with a reassuring heft to them. One of the main features that separates the Honor 400 Pro from its non-Pro sibling is its camera setup.

As standard, both devices sport an OIS-equipped 200MP f/1.9 main camera and a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide shooter at the back. The Honor 400 Pro gains an additional 50MP f/2.4 telephoto shooter that can optically zoom up to 3x and comes with OIS. As for selfies, both models come with a 50MP front camera.

AI Image to Video turns your still photo into a 5-second video

With the Honor 400 and 400 Pro, Honor is introducing a new AI feature called AI Image to Video. As its name suggests, this feature helps turn your still photos into videos. But no, this isn’t the same as a GIF or a “Live Photo”. Instead, the feature utilises its AI prowess to animate subjects in your photo, such as a person, drawing, or pet, turning the photo into a 5-second MP4 video.

Other existing AI features included with the Honor 400 and 400 Pro include AI Eraser 2.0, AI Cutout, AI Outpainting, and AI Upscale.

Beyond this, we will have to wait till the 22nd of May 2025 to find out more about the Honor 400 and 400 Pro, including their selling prices.
