TNB Electron has officially activated another new EV charging site for the Northern region of Peninsular Malaysia. This time around, it is located at the Aeon Mall Bukit Mertajam in Penang and there are several interesting things to note about the new charging station.

For one, this is the first TNB Electron location that has more than 2 charging bays. Of course, TNB Electron does have 18 AC charging bays at TNB Platinum Bangsar but it is not opened to the public unless you somehow have an official meeting or appointment within the TNB headquarters.

Aside from that, this is also the second TNB Electron location that supports card payment after it was first implemented at TNB Electron Juru Setia Sentral earlier this year. Powered by JuiceUp, the card payment is only supported by charging bays 3 and 4 while charging bays 1 and 2 still rely on the Go To-U app.

Equipped with two 47kW Autel DC chargers, it costs RM1.35 per kWh to charge your EV at TNB Electron Aeon Mall Bukit Mertajam. The fee is similar to the CPO’s previous 47kW deployments at Aeon premises such as Wangsa Maju, Bandar Dato’s Onn, Taman Universiti, Kota Bharu, Sri Manjung, Taiping, and Kinta City.

TNB Electron’s launch day free charging tradition continues

Just like previous deployments, TNB Electron is now offering free charging for a limited time at Aeon Mall Bukit Mertajam to celebrate the opening of the new EV charging spot. Specifically, you can utilise both chargers for free from now until 11:59 PM on 15 March 2025.
