Volvo EX30 now locally assembled in Malaysia, priced from RM208,888

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that it is now accepting bookings for the locally-assembled (CKD) EX30. The Volvo EX30 was officially launched locally in September 2024 with the first batch being fully imported (CBU) units.

For the subsequent batch, this fully electric compact SUV will be locally assembled for the Model Year 2025 (MY2025). Volvo is now offering just two instead of three variants and deliveries are expected to start in the second week of January 2025.

Volvo EX30 CKD Malaysia Pricing

Unlike the initial CBU variants, Volvo Car Malaysia is now offering just two option of the EX30 which come in Ultra trim. Here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • EX30 Ultra (RWD) – RM208,888
  • EX30 Ultra Twin Performance (AWD) – RM228,888

The specs and features remain unchanged and both variants also retain the same official pricing.

The Volvo EX30 comes with 5-year/unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and 8-year/160,000km high-voltage battery warranty with free replacement if the capacity falls below 70% during warranty period.

Also included are a 5-year/100,000km Roadside Assistance Programme and a Volvo Car Service Plan which covers cabin air filter replacement, brake fluid checks, wiper blade replacement and software updates. Wear-and-tear items like brake pads and discs are also included.

What’s missing from the new CKD lineup is the Volvo EX30 Plus, which was priced at RM188,888. The EX30 Plus is the cheaper entry-level model which lacked powered front seats, 360-degree camera, Park Pilot Assist and panoramic glass roof.

Volvo EX30 Malaysia Key Specs and Features

To recap, the EX30 is Volvo’s smallest and most affordable EV which is based on Geely’s EV-dedicated SEA platform. The only difference between the Ultra (RWD) and Ultra Twin Performance (AWD) is the number of motors.

The EX30 Ultra gets a single motor driving the rear wheels that can pushes 200kW (268hp) and 343Nm of torque. It can get from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the Twin Performance has two motors that provides an powerful 315kW (422hp) and 543Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds, making it the quickest production Volvo ever made.

Differences between EX30 Plus, EX30 Ultra and EX30 Ultra Twin Performance

Both locally-assembled EX30 comes with a 69kWh NMC battery which provides up to 476km of WLTP-rated range for the RWD version and up to 450km for the AWD variant. Both support three-phase AC charging of up to 11kW and DC fast charging up to 175kW. According to Volvo, the EX30 can be charged from 10-80% in just 28 minutes.

The Ultra variant comes with Park Pilot Assist, 360-degree camera, powered front seats, panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon Premium Sound, Ambient Interior themes and Safe Space Technology.

On the inside, the EX30 adopts a Tesla-like minimalistic approach as everything is controlled from the centre 12.3″ display which runs on Android Automotive along with wireless CarPlay support. There are no head-up display (HUD) or instrument cluster but it still offers physical stalks and gear selector on the steering column.
