Maxis has announced that it will be the first telco to offer cloud-based graphics processing units-as-as-service (GPU-aaS) to Malaysian customers as part of its Maxis Business cloud and managed services portfolio. According to the telco, GPUaaS provides businesses with easy access to powerful graphics processing units (GPUs) for advanced artificial intelligence (AI) training and inferencing applications.
Maxis says GPUaaS is a cost-effective way for enterprise customers to quickly deploy high-performance capabilities essential for intensive processing workloads covering AI, machine learning and deep learning. With GPUaaS, businesses won’t need to invest heavily in costly GPU hardware or maintain complex infrastructure.
GPUaaS powered by Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU clusters
At the time of launch, Maxis’ GPUaaS will utilise Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU-powered clusters. Through the solution, Maxis added that it will be among the world’s first telcos to offer services deployed using Nvidia’s next-generation GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips.
Maxis GPUaaS offering promises to offer scalable computing power available on-demand, allowing customers to allocate more time and resources to their core businesses and accelerate their development of Generative AI, large language models and AI workloads. It is aimed at catering to growing demand among early adopters across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare and logistics. The telco wants to enable customers to accelerate growth and innovation by accessing GPU clusters through existing fixed or 5G mobile connections.
Maxis GPUaaS taps on Singtel’s GPUaaS offering for the region
Maxis’ GPUaaS offering is made possible via Bridge Alliance which allows the green telco to leverage Singtel’s GPUaaS offering across the region. Under the strategic agreement agreement which Singtel signed last month, Bridge Alliance member operators will get access to the GPUaaS offerings from Singtel which enables them to deliver the cloud-based service to enterprises. Besides Maxis, Thailand’s AIS and Indonesia’s Telkomsel are among the alliance’s early adopters to offer GPUaaS.
