The Nothing Ear and Ear (a) which were announced last week made its first debut in Malaysia yesterday. During the preview, Nothing CEO Carl Pei made a special appearance at the Crossover store at TRX in KL.

If you’re interested in picking up one of Nothing’s latest wireless earbuds, here’s everything you need to know.

Nothing Ear and Ear (a) Malaysia Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Ear and Ear (a) are officially priced as follows in Malaysia:

The Nothing Ear which is the successor to the Nothing Ear (2) comes in the usual black and white options. Meanwhile, the Ear (a) is offered in black and white as well as striking yellow.

If you’re interested in buying one in Malaysia, the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) will be available first exclusively on Crossover’s online store on 27th April 2024. We have been told that it won’t be available at physical stores.

After the first drop, the Ear and Ear (a) will be available at more sales channels on 11th May 2024 and you can order it via its official store on Lazada and Shopee.

Nothing Ear key features and specs

The Nothing Ear is the company’s latest flagship wireless earbuds and it claims to offer its best audio experience ever. It features a very similar semi-transparent design as before with a semi-transparent square case. The earbuds feature a ceramic 11mm dynamic audio driver and support both LDAC and LHDC 5.0 codec. It’s also Hi-Res Audio wireless certified and Nothing says you’ll get pure audio with no quality damage.

Another new feature is ChatGPT integration which allows you to access ChatGPT by simply using your voice. The earbuds itself supports pinch controls and it also gets IP54 rated water resistance while the case is rated at IP55.

The Nothing Ear also features adaptive active noise cancellation up to 45 dB with transparency mode. With its Smart Active Noise Cancellation feature, Nothing says the Ear will automatically check for noise leaks and it will apply more noise cancellation to make up for it.

The earbuds itself is rated to last up to 8.5 hours (without ANC) and offer a total listening time of up to 40.5 hours with the case (without ANC). Similar to its predecessor, you can charge the case via USB-C or with wireless charging.

Nothing Ear (a) key features and specs

The Nothing Ear (a) is the brand’s “affordable” offering and it is the first Nothing product to be offered in yellow. The earbuds itself look similar to the Nothing Ear but the case comes in a new rectangular shape. The buds use PMI+TPU based 11mm audio drivers and it also supports active noise cancellation of up to 45db. The Ear (a) also supports LDAC but no LHDC 5.0.

Other features it loses out to the flagship Ear include an advanced equaliser & profile sharing and personal sound profile. For charging, the case uses USB-C and there’s no wireless charging support.

However, the battery life of the Ear (a) is longer at up to 9.5 hours for the earbuds (without ANC) or up to a total of 42.5 hours with the case (without ANC). The Nothing Ear (a) is also IP54-rated while the case is rated at IPX2.
