Ever since Xiaomi announced that they were retiring their MIUI software skin in favour of a new operating system called HyperOS, many Malaysians were probably wondering when exactly we would be getting our hands on their latest OS. Turns out, it won’t be via the Xiaomi 14, but instead through their Poco sub-brand with the new Poco X6 and X6 Pro.

Poco X6 and Poco X6 Pro Malaysia pricing and availability

The new Poco X6 series will feature two members, the regular Poco X6 and the more powerful Poco X6 Pro. Both will now come with at least 256GB of storage with up to 512GB of storage also an option. Here’s how much the two new smartphones will cost:

  • Poco X6, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,199
  • Poco X6, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,299
  • Poco X6, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM1,499
  • Poco X6 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,499
  • Poco X6 Pro, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM1,699

As part of the Poco X6 series launch, you’ll be able to find them on sale at a lower price from now till the 18 of January, with the regular Poco X6 available on the official Poco store on Lazada while the Poco X6 Pro will be on sale at the official Poco store on Shopee. Here’s how much they’ll go for during the early bird offer:

  • Poco X6, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,199 RM1,059
  • Poco X6, 12GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,299 RM1,159
  • Poco X6, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM1,499 RM1,359
  • Poco X6 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage – RM1,499 RM1,299
  • Poco X6 Pro, 12GB RAM, 512GB storage – RM1,699 RM1,499

Poco X6 Pro specs

Poco X6 Pro

Starting off with the higher end of the two models then, the Poco X6 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display pushing a 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The panel is also capable of a peak brightness of 1,800nits, a touch sampling rate of 2,160Hz a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. You’ll find a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 over it too for scratch resistance.

Under the hood meanwhile the Poco X6 Pro features a MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra, a 4nm system-on-chip that’s fairly powerful, offering performance close to flagship mobile processors from last year. That gets mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Poco X6 Pro also comes with Android 14, skinned with the company’s new HyperOS operating system over it.

In the camera department, the Poco X6 Pro comes with a 64MP main camera flanked by an 8MP ultrawide shooter along with a 2MP macro sensor. Flip it around and there’s a 16MP camera for your selfies. Keeping the lights meanwhile on is a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Other features of note include stereo speakers, an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, an in-display fingerprint sensor and an IR blaster, along with support for 5G, NFC, WiFI 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Poco X6 specs

As for the regular Poco X6, it does actually look pretty similar to its more ‘Pro’ sibling, with a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display pushing the same 1.5K resolution with an up to 120Hz refresh rate, a 2,160Hz touch sampling rate, a peak brightness of 1,800nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The only notable difference according to Poco being that it has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus over it for scratch resistance, which is actually a step up compared to the Pro’s Gorilla Glass 5.

Powering the Poco X6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, an upper midrange system-on-chip that gets mated to up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Despite a slight step down in hardware, software-wise the Poco X6 will come with Android 14 skinned with Xiaomi HyperOS over it too. There’s also a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery here with 67W fast charging.

Apart from that, you’re looking at mostly the same key specs here, with a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro and a 16MP selfie camera along with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating, IR blaster and in-display fingerprint sensor. There’s also support for 5G, NFC, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity.
