If you’re driving an EV to Penang, there’s a new DC Charging location at Gelugor, Penang. DC Handal has deployed a 50kW Kempower DC Charger with two CCS2 nozzles at Udini Square’s covered carpark. Located right next to Lotus’s E-Gate, the charging station is quite strategic and it is just a few minutes away from the Penang Bridge.
The 50kW DC Charger at Udini Square can deliver up to a maximum of 50kW from a single nozzle. However, expect the power to be split when two EVs are plugged in simultaneously. Like all DC Handal chargers, it uses kWh-based pricing and this charger is priced at RM1.30 per kWh.
As usual, the DC Handal chargers can be activated via contactless payment cards such as Visa Paywave and Mastercard paypass. Mobile-based card payments such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are also accepted.
However, do note that there’s a pre-authorisation amount of RM50 required when you tap in. Alternatively, you can also activate these chargers via JomCharge or ChargEV apps.
Do note that applicable parking fees apply. According to the Plugshare listing, it costs RM1.20 per hour during weekdays or RM1.20 for the first two hours, followed by RM1.20 per hour for subsequent hours.
If you need a faster DC charger on Penang Island, DC Handal has a 90kW Autel charger at Choo Plaza in George Town which has two CCS2 nozzles. Meanwhile, there are also 120kW DC chargers located at Smart Penang and New World Park.
