Nubia has officially revealed its latest flagship smartphone, the Z60 Ultra. Aside from being the company’s first device to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the new model is also the first IP68-rated device from Nubia.
Nubia Z60 Ultra pricing, colourways
Aside from being powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship-class processor, Nubia has equipped the new phone with speedy LPDDR5X memory and UFS4.0-based internal storage. According to Nubia’s international website, the Z60 Ultra can be obtained in three memory and storage configurations.
Here is what the pricing looks like:
- Nubia Z60 Ultra 8GB RAM + 256GB storage: USD599 (~RM2,805)
- Nubia Z60 Ultra 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: USD649 (~RM3,039)
- Nubia Z60 Ultra 16GB RAM + 512GB storage: USD779 (~RM3,647)
It can be obtained in only two colourways including Black and Silver although in China, there is also the Starry Sky Collection Edition which has Van Gogh-inspired artwork on its rear. However, Malaysia is not included in the list of countries supported by the brand’s international online store.
This means you can’t purchase the phone directly from the website. At the moment, neither Nubia nor ZTE Malaysia have announced anything regarding the availability of the new phone in our market.
Nubia Z60 Ultra is a massive device
The Z60 Ultra has quite a footprint given that it comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED display. Given its flagship status, it is not surprising to see that plenty of techs have been included with the display including 120Hz refresh rate, 1200Hz touch sampling rate, 2160Hz PWN dimming function, and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.
Aside from having a brightness level of up to 1500 nits, pixel density of 400ppi and 2480×1116 resolution, the Z60 Ultra also houses a 12MP under-display selfie camera. Interestingly, this camera also features an optical image stabilization (OIS) system.
Nubia Z60 Ultra intricate rear camera system
It is common to see high-performance rear camera systems on flagship smartphones and things are no different for the Z60 Ultra. Just like some of its previous releases, Nubia branded its camera system as NeoVision and the new model comes together with three camera options.
The main camera is equipped with a 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor that has been paired with a f/1.59 35mm lens. The phone’s ultra-wide camera also comes with a 50MP sensor alongside a 100-degree f/1.8 lens while there is also a 64MP telephoto camera with an 85mm lens.
All three cameras also have OIS and Nubia even claimed that its stabilization system is among the best in the market. It is an interesting claim but we can only know how good the OIS really is once we can have the retail unit in our hands.
Big phone, big battery
Capping the general specification of the Nubia Z60 Ultra is a sizeable 6000mAh battery. While the phone may not come with some ultra-fast charging tech, it is still able to support charging speeds of up to 80W which is still more than some of the well-known brands out there.
