At the start of the year, Honor kicked things off by launching the Honor X9a 5G, a midrange smartphone with a curved OLED display that came with the rather unique selling point of having a ‘super reinforced’ glass that we even used to literally crack open some nuts. It seems however that Honor isn’t done with that just yet, as they’re now teasing its successor, the Honor X9b 5G.
According to Honor Malaysia’s teasers, the upcoming Honor X9b 5G will be ‘all-angle, ultra tough’, with the new smartphone’s ‘b’ suffix apparently meaning ‘beyond toughness’. While the Honor X9a 5G might’ve focused all the toughness on the display, the Honor X9b 5G will boast 360° toughness for better durability.
To achieve this, Honor says that the new Ultra-Bounce, Anti-Drop display has a three layer design with a single point reinforcement protection, wraparound cushioning and deep seal protection. This gets complemented with a new cushioning material capable of absorbing the impact of a drop better by 1.2 times. The Honor X9b 5G will even come with a 5-star all-angle drop resistance certification by the Swiss firm SGS.
