Tesla Malaysia’s Supercharger location at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is finally switched on. Currently available exclusively for Tesla vehicles, these chargers can provide DC fast charging up to 250kW.
As shared on the Malaysian Electric Vehicle Owner Club (MyEVOC) Facebook Group, these chargers are priced at RM1.25 per kWh as indicated in the Tesla app for existing users. This means a quick 24kWh top-up would cost you RM30. If you don’t move your vehicle after the charge is completed, there are also applicable idle fees of up to RM4.00 per minute. The Telsa Superchargers are located at Level B1 near the C21 pillar.
According to the FAQ, the default idle fee is RM2.00 per minute if Supercharger station is at 50% capacity or more. However, if the station is 100% occupied, the idle fee is doubled to RM4.00 per minute. It is mentioned in the app that the idle fee is waived if the car is moved within 5 minutes after charging is completed. Since these chargers are located in the carpark, you will also have to pay for applicable parking fees at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
If you plan to spend an extended time at Pavilion KL to do your shopping or watch a movie, it is probably advisable to charge your Tesla when you leave the mall. Tesla claims that it just takes 15 minutes to recharge with up to 270km of range and a quick 5-minute charge is enough to push up to 120km of range.
The pricing for the Tesla Supercharger is quite competitive when compared to other similar DC fast chargers in the market. The nearest alternative DC charger in Bukit Bintang is ChargEV’s Kempower chargers which can deliver up to 320kW. These chargers are still priced at RM1.20 per kWh and you can park for free for 30 minutes at the designated valet parking lot.
Meanwhile, Gentari’s 350kW DC Fast Charger at XPark Sunway Serene has recently increased its rates to RM1.70 per kWh. However, you can get a cheaper RM0.85 per kWh rate if you sign up for Gentari’s annual membership plan.
The Tesla Supercharger at Pavilion KL has a total of eight stalls and it is the first Supercharger location in Malaysia. At the moment, these chargers which use a CCS2 connector are still not open for non-Tesla vehicles. For Tesla owners, you can seamlessly plug and charge, and the charging cost will be billed automatically to your saved card in your Tesla account.
Besides Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Tesla has also identified more Supercharger locations which are mostly located across the North-South Expressway. This includes Iskander Puteri in Johor, Ipoh, Perai in Pulau Pinang and Negeri Sembilan. Tesla Malaysia has also signed up with various property developers including Pavilion Group, Sunway Group, Gamuda Land, Levn Capital and Quill Group to expand its EV charging network.
In case you’re wondering, Tesla EVs sold in Malaysia are using the CCS2 port and you can use other existing EV chargers in the country from other charge point operators such as ChargEV, Gentari and JomCharge. Unlike Tesla’s seamless charging experience with the SuperCharger, you’ll need to download an app to activate the charger on other charging networks.

Buyers who placed their orders for the Model Y before 31st October 2023 will also receive a free Wall Connector which lets you charge your EV at home.
