Based on photos and videos shared online, the crash site is near the popular Elmina rainbow bridge. The police, fire and rescue department are on site to attend to the situation. Also spotted is a Malaysia Airports’ Rosenbauer firefighter truck.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has confirmed that the aircraft is a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) which bears the registration number N28JV. The aircraft is operated by Jetvalet Sdn Bhd. According to Jetvalet’s page, the light business jet has a capacity for one crew and 6 passengers with 77 cubic feet of luggage space. It has a maximum rated speed of Mach 0.68 (840km/h) with a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet. The Premier 1 has a maximum range of 1,350Nm (about 2,500km).

Based on data from FlightAware, the aircraft departed from Langkawi at 2:08 pm this afternoon and it was last seen at Subang Jaya at 2:49 pm. Looking at the log, the plane’s last speed recorded is 180mph (approximately 289km/h).

According to CAAM’s statement, the aircraft made contact with Subang Air Traffic Control Tower at 2:47pm and landing clearance was given at 2:48pm. At 2.51pm, Subang ATC noticed smoke originating from the crash site but no mayday call was made.

CAAM said a total of 6 passengers and two flight crew were on board the flight. A safety investigation will be conducted by Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia. BFM reported the police have confirmed 10 people were killed which include 8 individuals on board the plane, a motorcyclist and a driver.

Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) has announced that the exit and entrance to Elmina (Elmina Interchange) on both bounds from GCE Highway are temporarily closed until the crash site has been cleared and the investigation is completed. All highway users are advised to use alternative routes.
