Fahmi: Public servants to get a RM10 rebate each month to use on mobile postpaid plans

On top of announcing a new Pakej 5G Rahmah plan offering 60GB of 5G data along with a 5G smartphone on a two-year contract, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has also revealed a new Postpaid Rahmah incentive for public servants.

According to Fahmi, this new Pospaid Rahmah incentive will allow all Malaysian public servants to get a RM10 rebate each month to be used on any available postpaid package. This means that if you’re a public servant, you’ll be able to get RM120 a year to be used for your monthly postpaid fee. This incentive will be made available from 31 August onwards, with more details on it to be released by the telcos involved in the coming weeks.

Ini merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha Kerajaan Perpaduan untuk mengurangkan beban ekonomi rakyat dan memastikan rakyat mendapat perkhidmatan internet berkualiti dengan harga berpatutan.

With the total civil service in Malaysia coming in at roughly 1.6 million people, this could mean that the Postpaid Rahmah incentive will cost a total of RM16 million a month—assuming that every civil servant is on a postpaid mobile plan that is.

It’s also worth pointing out that you could also sign up for the Pakej 5G Rahmah and then apply for the RM10 rebate if you’re a civil servant, as Fahmi’s announcement made no note that these two plans are mutually exclusive.
