Vivo is about to release its very first flip phone and here’s a clear glimpse of its upcoming Vivo X Flip. Expected to launch sometime this month with the Vivo X Fold 2, the Vivo X Flip features a large cover display and round circular camera bump with Zeiss branding.

The image above was shared by serial leakster Digital Chat Station on Weibo which looks like a behind the scene photo for a promo video shoot. Since Vivo is a brand under BBK Electronics Group, the X Flip is expected to be very similar to the recently launched Oppo Find N2 Flip.

Vivo X Flip

If we take a closer look, the X Flip has an interesting texture on the cover, while the large external display covers more than half of the device when it’s folded. Also visible is a tiny rectangular cut-out which appears to house a triple-LED flashlight. Similar to Oppo, the new Vivo device seems to feature interesting UI themes including one with an animated cat as shown above. The cover screen also shows the status of the signal strength, battery and also a shortcut button to launch the camera.

According to an earlier leak, the X Flip’s cover display is expected to have an HD 682p resolution while the internal foldable display is a 1080p unit. In terms of hardware specs, a purported Geekbench result seems to indicate that the new Vivo flip phone will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip with 12GB of RAM. It is speculated that the device will come with a 4,400mAh battery and two main cameras that consist of a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle unit.

Oppo Find N2 Flip

As a comparison, the Oppo Find N2 Flip which was recently launched in Malaysia comes with a vertically aligned 3.26″ cover display that pushes a resolution of 720×382. Meanwhile, the internal display uses a 6.8″ 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED panel.

Instead of a Qualcomm processor, the Find N2 Flip runs on a MediaTek DImensity 9000+ mated to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Oppo flip phone also gets dual cameras co-developed with Hasselblad that consist of a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter. Powering the Find N2 Flip is a 4,300mAh battery and it supports 44W SuperVOOC fast charging. Unfortunately, unlike the Samsung Z Flip 4, it doesn’t come with water resistance as well as water resistance.

Based on the recent pricing of its current Vivo X90 flagship series, we reckon that the X Flip will carry a premium price tag if it does launch in Malaysia. At the moment, the Oppo Find N2 Flip 256GB is priced at RM3,799 while the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 256GB is priced at RM4,399.
