Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has finally launched the Pakej Perpaduan for Fixed Broadband which aims to provide affordable home internet for targeted lower-income groups. YTL Broadband is one of the participating telcos that’s offering unlimited 30Mbps home fibre broadband for RM69/month.
The Pakej Perpaduan broadband plan by YTL Broadband offers Unlimited 30Mbps for both upload and download for RM69/month. The plan is tied to a 24-month contract and it comes with a WiFi 6 Mesh Router. If you need to make calls, YTL Broadband charges 9 sen per minute to all domestic fixed and mobile numbers.
The Pakej Perpaduan fibre plan is open to individuals under B40 groups, senior citizens (aged 60 years old and above), People with disabilities (OKU) and veterans (Police and Army). Typically, this 30Mbps fibre plan is normally offered for RM89/month which is similar to TM Unifi.
According to the FAQ, each customer can only register on Pakej Perpaduan Plan and eligible users can present their valid Mykad, OKU card or Police/Tentera retiree ID for verification. Take note that if you need to move homes during the contract period, there’s a relocation charge of RM212.
If you wish to terminate the broadband plan during the contract period, you are required to pay the full monthly recurring charges for the balance contract period. This means if you have 12 months remaining in the contract, you’ll have to pay (12 x RM69) RM828 for early termination.
YTL Broadband’s fibre coverage is very limited compared to bigger players including Time and TM. They currently cover selected properties in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Pulau Pinang, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. You can check the full list here.
