Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) has issued a statement denying that the suggestive “FLICK” logo was designed by the institution. According to UTM, the financial literacy and career development events were organised by Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) in partnership with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs) department.

The Corporate Affairs section of UTM said the viral logo design was the official program logo by PTPTN and it was a 2-day corporate social responsibility (CSR) event to support the marketability of graduates. The UTM’s Facebook post which featured the “FLICK” logo has been removed.

The FLICK program was introduced in June 2022 covering 14 institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. UTM is the final university under the program. From the early social posts shared on PTPTN Facebook, there was initially no official logo for the event. However, the controversial logo was spotted during their UNIMAS event in October 2022.

As mentioned by Dzamira in the original post, FLICK is supposedly the short form of “Financial Literacy and Career Development” but it doesn’t explain where the K comes from.
