If you’re looking for a Huawei flip phone, the Huawei P50 Pocket can be yours with a RM1,500 discount in conjunction with their Christmas sale campaign. Launched in January this year, this is Huawei’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
The Huawei P50 Pocket in white with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage (RRP: RM5,999) is now going for RM4,499, while the Premium Edition in gold with 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage (RRP: RM7,299) is now slashed to RM5,999. Interestingly, it isn’t available on Huawei’s official store on Lazada and Shopee, and you can’t buy it from their own online store. If you’re interested, you’ll have to visit their experience stores listed here.
Unlike other flip phones, the Huawei P50 Pocket features a round 1.04″ OLED cover display which pushes 340×340 pixels resolution. When unfolded, the P50 Pocket reveals a 6.9″ 21:9 OLED screen that pushes 2790×1188 pixels with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset without 5G support.
For imaging, the P50 Pocket has a triple-camera setup with a 40MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 32MP ultra-spectrum camera. Meanwhile, the punch-hole on the inner display houses a 10.7MP selfie shooter.
Keeping the lights on is a large 4,000mAh battery which is larger than Samsung’s Z Flip series. It supports 40W fast wired charging via USB-C but it lacks wireless charging capability. Unlike Samsung, there’s also no IP68 dust and resistance rating for the P50 Pocket.
The device runs on EMUI 12 out of the box, without Google Mobile services. If you need to discover apps, you’ll have to download them via Huawei AppGallery.
