Other than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a partnership with Adobe, Qualcomm also announced the Qualcomm Innovators Development Kit during the annual Snapdragon Summit. This is essentially a dev kit that will be for developers to work on the various Qualcomm software solutions.
The Qualcomm Innovators Development Kit will be packing a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip hardware-wise, while on the software side it will also come with all the tools and resources from the Qualcomm AI Stack. Qualcomm intends developers to use the Innovators Development Kit to conduct on-device AI research, create cutting-edge AI applications and allow for more flexibility with end solutions.
“Providing new developer communities with access to our technologies will further enable innovation that accelerates the digital economy and drives the greater good.
Improving time-to-market for developers by minimising the time from intent to prototype will allow these communities to leverage our One Technology Roadmap for their product needs,” – Ziad Asghar, Qualcomm vice president of product management
At the time being, the Qualcomm Innovators Development Kit will be available to select universities and research institutions for on-device machine learning applications first, with plans to expand to additional developer segments such as security, multimedia, embedded systems computing and more in the future. Some of the institutions that will be getting their hands on one of these in the coming months includes University of California San Diego, Duke, MIT and more.
If you yourself are a developer at a university or research institution and would like to request for an Innovators Development Kit yourself, you can do so by heading over to the product page on the Qualcomm Developer Network here.
