The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series have officially arrived and you can get it from all authorised resellers as well as Apple’s partner telcos in Malaysia. If you’re switching from an existing iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, Celcom is offering a buyback trade-in promo where you can pick up an iPhone 14 for as low as RM43/month.
iPhone 14 available from RM43/month with buyback trade-in
The 50% buyback promo is available starting today (23rd September 2022) and this is essentially a trade-in programme to make it easier for you to switch to the new iPhone 14. The amount you can save on the monthly instalment depends your current smartphone model and its current condition. To get a price evaluation, customers will have to diagnose their phones using the CompAsia app (Google Play, Apple AppStore).
For the advertised instalment of RM43/month, Celcom says that it is based on a purchase of the iPhone 14 128GB device bundle with Celcom Mega 188 postpaid contract with a 12-month easy payment plan (EPP), along with a trade-in of an iPhone 13 128GB in pristine condition. The 0% interest easy payment plan (EPP) is offered for CIMB or Maybank credit cardholders with the option for 12 or 24 months instalment payments.
EPP from RM103/month available for device bundle
If you don’t have a device to trade-in, Celcom is offering the iPhone 14 from RM103/month with credit card EPP. This is cheaper than the usual EasyPhone instalment contract which starts from RM140/month for the iPhone 14 128GB on a 24-month contract of Mega 188.
Typically, telcos would offer new devices on a standard contract or with an instalment programme such as Easyphone. Between the two options, a standard contract provides the biggest discount in the long run, however, you’ll have to pay more upfront for the device and the advanced payment, which is rebated back to your monthly bills. Now Celcom is allowing customers to pay these upfront charges via credit card easy payment.
For example, the iPhone 14 128GB which retails for RM4,199 is offered for RM2,463 with a 24-month device bundle contract of Celcom Mega 188, which is a saving of RM1,736. However, you’ll need to pay an upfront payment of RM1,100 which is rebated over 10 months to your monthly bills (RM110 x 10 months).
With the 0% EPP offer, you can pay for both iPhone 14 (RM2,463) and upfront payment (RM1,100), over 12 months for RM297/month or 24 months for RM148/month combined. This means you’re effectively paying RM102.62/month for the iPhone 14 128GB over 24 months, excluding the upfront payment which will go back to your monthly bill as a rebate.
