HTC One to get Android 4.4 KitKat as early as January 2014

HTC One Android 4.4 Kitkat update

The aluminium clad HTC One will be upgraded to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat beginning January next year. This was mentioned by HTC’s twitter account from the US & UK and it is likely that international models will follow shortly after.

So far HTC has been actively updating its flagship from Android 4.1.2 which came out of the box to Android 4.2.2 and most recently to Android 4.3. The latest update brings its Sense UI to version 5.5 which offers more customisation and features however some have reported in the comments of having issues especially with its music player. Hopefully HTC will be releasing an interim update to sort out these niggles.

For those that feel that HTC One with its 4.7″ screen is too small, its bigger sibling the HTC One Max will be officially launched in Malaysia tomorrow. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out our hands-on of the One Max here. In terms of hardware, the HTC One Max retains the same 1.7GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM as its 4.7″ HTC One but comes with an additional Finger print scanner at the back.

See how does the HTC One Max stacks up against the rest in our earlier comparison post.
