Among the many laptop manufacturers out there right now, Asus is perhaps carving its own path by offering numerous new laptops with OLED displays, something that not everyone has been fully adopting yet. Indeed, Asus Malaysia has today introduced three new Vivobook laptops, all of which come with equipped with OLED panels and target both content creators and professionals as well as the average consumer seeking a cheaper, compact laptop.

Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED

Starting off with one of the most powerful laptops revealed today, the Vivobook Pro 15 OLED has a 15.6-inch, FHD OLED display that is capable of 600nits of brightness. It covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and is Pantone validated too. Under the hood though are some very impressive specs, with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD along with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 rated at 35W too. Keeping it all cool is are a pair of cooling fans and the Asus IceCool Plus thermal technology. It comes with Windows 10 out of the box with Microsoft Office Home & Student too, while an upgrade to Windows 11 will be available later.

The hardware on offer is certainly pretty impressive considering the 1.65kg weight and thickness of 1.99cm. Battery-wise you’ll find a 63Whr Li-ion battery with a 120W power brick in the box, though Asus didn’t give an estimate on battery life. However, judging from the gas guzzling H-series CPUs, they probably won’t be challenging the likes of a true ultraportable. As for I/O, you get a HDMI 1.4 port, a USB-A 3.2 port, a USB-C 3.2 port, two more USB-A 2.0 ports, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Other features of note include a 720p webcam with a privacy shutter, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support, as well as Harman Kardon built-in speakers and array microphone. It comes in just one colourway, Quiet Blue, and pricing for it is as follow:

  • Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM5,199
  • Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM4,799
  • Asus Vivobook Pro 15 OLED, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM4,299

Asus Vivobook Pro 14X OLED

You might assume that the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED is merely a smaller sized version of the previous laptop, but there’s actually a lot more different than just size. For starters, the 14-inch display is of a higher 2.8K resolution, and has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the OLED panel also has a 90Hz refresh rate and a 600nits peak brightness. It has been HDR600 VESA certified, Pantone validated and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

Under the hood, you’ll find just one configuration for the Vivobook Pro 14X, with an Intel Core i5-11300H mated to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a 512GB SSD as well as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 rated at 35W. It comes with Windows 10 out of the box, with an upgrade to Windows 11 down the line. As for I/O, there’s a HDMI 1.4 port, a USB-A 3.2 port, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a Thunderbolt 4 port that supports display and power delivery, a microSD card slot as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. The whole laptop weighs just 1.45kg and is 1.79cm thick.

It comes with a 63Whr Li-ion battery and a 120W power brick too. You’ll also find a 720p webcam, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support, as well as Harman Kardon built-in speakers and array microphone. The Vivobook Pro 14X OLED comes in Cool Silver, and it’s priced at RM4,799.

Asus Vivobook 15 OLED

Lastly, the Vivobook 15 OLED isn’t as flashy as its cousins with the Pro moniker, but isn’t too shabby either. It features a 15.6-inch FHD OLED display capable of 600nits of peak brightness. It is Pantone validated, covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and also has a HDR600 VESA certification. Under the hood is either the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, Ryzen 5 5500U or the Intel Core i3-1115G4. You can get up to 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 512GB SSD and comes with Windows 10 out of the box with Windows 11 down the line. There’s no discrete graphics card though; all three configurations use integrated graphics.

For I/O the Vivobook 15 OLED features a USB-A 3.2 port, a USB-C 3.2 port, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a HDMI 1.4 port, a microSD card slot as well as a 3.5mm audio jack. The laptop has an expansion slot for an additional 2.5-inch SATA HDD too if you’d like. It comes with a fairly average 42Whr battery and a 65W power brick. There’s also a 720p webcam, WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 support along with Harman Kardon built-in speakers and array microphone. It weights 1.8kg and is 1.86cm thick, and comes in either Indie Black, Transparent Silver and Hearty Gold.

Pricing for the Asus Vivobook 15 OLED is as follows:

  • Asus Vivobook 15 OLED, Ryzen 7 5700U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM3,499
  • Asus Vivobook 15 OLED, Ryzen 5 5500U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM3,199
  • Asus Vivobook 15 OLED, Core i3-1115G4, 4GB RAM, 512GB SSD – RM2,799

All of the aforementioned laptops are available for purchase on the Asus online store, their official stores on Shopee and Lazada as well as their authorised dealers nationwide.
