Honor Malaysia has finally brought in the second post-Huawei smartphone onto our shores, the Honor 50 Lite. Placed below the Honor 50 in their product stack, it looks a little bit like the Huawei Nova 8i, but will come with Google Mobile Services unlike its Huawei counterpart.

Honor 50 Lite Malaysia pricing and availability

There will only be one configuration of the Honor 50 Lite on sale, coming with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’s priced at RM999, and will be available for purchase starting from the 25th of November onwards on the Honor eStore, their official store on Lazada and Shopee, Senheng, senQ, telcos like Digi and Maxis as well as authorised retailers nationwide.

Furthermore, if you do opt to get the Honor 50 Lite from the Honor eStore, you’ll be able to get RM300 worth of free gifts in the form of an Honor backpack and a Bluetooth speaker. There’ll be three colourways to pick from, namely Space Silver, Midnight Black and Deep Sea Blue.

Honor 50 Lite specs

Just like the Huawei Nova 8i, the Honor 50 Lite has a 6.67-inch, FHD+ 60Hz, IPS LCD display with a 391 pixel per square inch density. Meanwhile, under the hood you’ll find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 system-on-chip, mated to the aforementioned 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. This also means that it’s not a 5G-capable device. However, it will have Google Mobile Services onboard, allowing you to access the Google Play Store and its apps. You’ll also find that it comes with Android 11 out of the box, with the Magic UI 4.2 skin over it.

Camera-wise, there’s a quad-camera setup on the rear located in a large circular camera bump. The main shooter is a 64MP f/1.9 camera while the ultrawide angle camera is an 8MP f/2.4 camera. Those are flanked by a further two 2MP f/2.4 cameras for macro and depth. On the front of the device meanwhile you’ll find a single 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera that’s curiously located in an pill-shaped cut out.

Other features of note include a 4,300mAh battery that Honor says will last you up to 16 hours of web browsing, or 7 hours of gaming. It’ll also support 66W Honor SuperCharge fast charging that they claim will charge the battery to 100% in just 39 minutes. Other features of note include NFC, WiFi 5 and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button.

For more information on the Honor 50 Lite, you can check out its product page on Honor’s website.
