Camera supremacy will be the next battleground for smartphone dominance and it looks like things are going to get really interesting as we approach the second half of this year and manufacturers like Samsung, Sony and HTC are gearing to launch the second wave of their Android smartphone offerings.
Among the three, Samsung looks to be the most eager. The Korean tech juggernaut is scheduled to unveil a new line of Galaxy devices on June 20th, including the pre-announced Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 mini along with possible the Galaxy Note III and, this oddball camera-phone hybrid, the Galaxy S4 Zoom.
The still unofficial Galaxy S4 Zoom, is essentially a Galaxy Camera that you can make phone calls with. Unconfirmed specs include a 1.6GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 960×540 resolution producing a pixel density of about 264ppi. Internal storage is a claimed 8GB with a micro SD slot good for an additional 64GB of storage. The device should run Android 4.2.2 out of the box. In the camera department, you get a 16MP camera mated to an optical zoom lens with a rumoured 10x zoom length.
It’s a pity then that the S4 Zoom is not water resistant.
Head on over to after the jump for non-rendered image of the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Looks like the device is almost certainly confirmed then.
