COVID-19: 941 new cases today, lowest recorded in 2021

Malaysia has recorded 941 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 342,885. This is the lowest recorded this year and the last time Malaysia record less than 1,000 cases was 9th December 2020. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 1,260.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,097 new recoveries and a total of 327,406 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 95.48% while the mortality rate is now 0.37%.

There are currently 14,219 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 166 are in ICU while 73 require respiratory support.

Out of the 941 new cases today, 8 are imported while 933 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded 219 cases, followed by Sarawak with 192 cases, Johor with 171 cases and Pulau Pinang with 164 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 3 new clusters today and 2 are workplace related. This include the Seksyen 16 cluster in Selangor, Jalan Azlan cluster in Kuala Lumpur and Taman Vistagro cluster in Sarawak.

A total of 43 clusters have recorded new cases today. The Pagar Bukit Chagar cluster recorded the most with 60 cases, followed by Teknologi Bukit Minyak cluster with 58 cases and Batu 22 cluster with 46 new cases.
