COVID-19: 3,731 new cases and 15 new deaths today, 1,606 cases reported in Selangor

Malaysia has recorded 3,731 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 242,452. There are 15 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 872.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,369 new recoveries and a total of 190,339 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 78.5% while the mortality rate is at 0.4%.

There are currently 51,241 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 292 are in ICU while 140 require respiratory support.

Out of the 3,731 new cases today, 8 are imported while 3,723 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 1,606 cases, followed by Johor with 499 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 372 cases and Melaka with 313 cases.

According to Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the infectivity rate is now 0.94. Today marks the 3rd straight day of recording less than 4,000 new COVID-19 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 7 new clusters today and below is the full list:

A total of 81 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Industri Serkam cluster recorded the most with 246 new cases, followed by Gudang Salak Tinggi cluster with 127 new cases and Lembah Selatan construction site cluster with 99 new cases.
