COVID-19: 2,295 new cases today. 638 in Selangor, 580 in Johor

Malaysia has recorded 2,295 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 117,373. This is the 3rd consecutive day of recording more than 2,000 new daily cases. There are 9 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 483.

The Ministry of Health has reported 3,321 new recoveries and a total of 94,492 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 80.5% while the mortality rate is now 0.41%.

There are currently 22,398 active cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 125 are in ICU while 51 require respiratory support.

Out of the 2,295 new COVID-19 cases today, 9 are imported while 2,286 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 638 cases, followed by Johor with 580 cases, Penang with 288 cases, Sabah with 259 cases and Kuala Lumpur with 156 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 9 new clusters today. This include Harum cluster in Johor, Casuarina construction site cluster in Selangor, Batu Lapan cluster in Sabah, Jalan BBN cluster in Negeri Sembilan, Dewani cluster in Johor, Renggam cluster in Selangor, Belukar cluster in Kelantan, Kolam Permai cluster in Terengganu and Mador cluster in Sarawak.

A total of 45 active clusters have recorded new cases. The newly identified Harum cluster in Johor has the most with 206 new cases, followed by Bukit Pasir cluster with 174 cases and Lebuh construction site cluster with 137 cases.
