Former Celcom and TM CEO appointed as MD of Boustead Holdings

Boustead Holdings Berhad has announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly as its Group Managing Director effective from 1st December 2020. He replaces Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin who has stepped down on 15th November.

The announcement described him as a turnaround specialist with strengths in Corporate Transformation, Revenue Generation, Digitalisation, Marketing and Distribution as well as Commercial & Opeational Excellence.

Boustead Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin welcomed Shazalli Ramly as the new Group Managing Director and said “we are confident that with Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli’s notable professional experience and proven track record in corporate transformation and performance management, his leadership for the Group will be able to steer Boustead to new heights. Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli joins our ranks at an opportune time, with our transformation initiatives going into full swing. His renowned expertise and sharp business acumen during our transformation journey certainly augurs well for the Group’s business prospects.”

Shazalli Ramly has over 30 years experience in telecommunications, media & broadcasting and consumer marketing. Prior to his new appointment, Shazalli was the Managing Director and Group CEO at TM from 2017 to 2018 and the Regional CEO and Corporate Executive VP of Axiata Group Berhad from 2016 to 2017.

Before that, he was the CEO at Celcom from 2005 to 2016. During his tenure at Celcom, the blue telco had achieved a record-breaking 31 quarters of uninterrupted consecutive growth with double-digit growth in revenue, EBITDA and net profit.

Shazalli was also the CEO at NTV7 and the Marketing Director at Astro. He also served at Lever Brothers (Unilever) and British American Tobacco Company.
