COVID-19: 1,041 new cases today, Selangor recorded the most with 402 cases

Malaysia has recorded 1,041 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 53,679. There are 3 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 332.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,405 new recoveries and a total of 40,493 patients have recovered and discharged so far. This is the highest number of recoveries recorded in a single day. The recovery rate is now 75.4% while the mortality rate is now 0.6%.

There are currently 12,854 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 108 are in ICU while 45 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,041 new COVID-19 cases today, 2 are imported while 1,039 are transmitted locally. Selangor recorded the most with 402 cases, followed by Sabah with 346 cases, Negeri Sembilan with 121 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 68 cases and Johor with 33 cases. There are no new cases reported in the states of Sarawak, Pahang, Melaka, Terengganu, Putrajaya and Perlis.

The Ministry of Health has identified 3 new clusters today. This include Jalan Harapan prison cluster in Selangor, Kota Kecil cluster in Johor and Sky Coklat cluster in Labuan.

A total of 36 active clusters have recorded new cases today. The Teratai cluster recorded the most with 299 new cases, followed by Hentian cluster with 79 cases, Damanlela construction site with 43 new cases and Ria-30 cluster with 31 new cases.
